Pickin' the Perfect Pumpkin

So I thought it was time to come out of the "Twilight" zone and back to reality posting.
I think we picked the one weekend in October that was more like winter than fall to go to the pumpkin patch. We went a few weeks ago and we FROZE. Yes, in the pictures it looks warm but let me tell you it was very cold and windy. I think it was the fastest time set ever for our family to pick out the perfect pumpkin. By the time we found the ones we wanted both Brinley and Rylee were crying from being so cold (if you look close enough to the pics you'll see tears). Baylee was having fun despite the super cold weather. This little pumpkin patch is right down the street from our house. They have a little corn maze, tons of pumpkins (it's fun to watch them grow all summer long), and they set out a bunch of tractors you can climb all over. Since getting our pumpkins, the girls have changed their minds several times trying to decide how they want to carve theirs. I guess we'll find out next week!

Twilight

Who's Counting??

Well I am of course!! Only one month to go and the movie Twilight is out. I can't wait. The best part is that it comes out the day after my anniversary, so guess what we're doing? Yep, going to the mid-night showing (isn't Dan the luckiest husband ever?!?!). I have to admit that I am a huge Twilight nerd! I read the first 3 books in a week and the last one in only a few days. I even went to the mid-night release party at Barnes and Noble (in St. George for a girl's weekend out) and stood in line for 3 hours to get my copy of Breaking Dawn. My cute cousin Brooke and I were the 11th and 12th people from the END of the line. We got our books at 3:00 AM. It was so worth it! There were hundreds of people there being just as crazy as we were. I can't wait! 30, 29, 28, 27, 26, 25...

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Every time we drive past a temple, the girls start to sing "I Love To See The Temple". So now every time we leave our house they start singing. How excited we are to have this temple so close to our home. We have enjoyed watching this temple being built. We can see it out our front windows and we drive past it every day. It is such an honor to live in the shadow of a temple. When we lived in Oregon, we were minutes away from the Portland Temple. We walked to it all the time. And now we have that same privilege with the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.

It's A Witch Hunt

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday. I love the colors, the costumes, the smells, the cooler weather (however it feels like winter here these days), the leaves changing, and of course the candy! So to celebrate the Halloween season we headed over to Gardner Village to visit the Witches. Gardner Village is a fun little shopping "town" that loves Halloween just as much as I do. They have life size animated witches all over the village. So fun! We spent the entire day there going on a witch hunt, shopping, eating-sweets of course, and enjoying the beautiful weather (this was early last week before winter showed up). Brinley was a little nervous standing next to some of the witches, but after seeing a dozen or so she got use to them.

Baylee has been off track the last couple of weeks, which I love because we can enjoy all the Halloween activities around here. However, she needs to go back to school soon because I need to stay home and do some laundry.

Rylee loved all the pumpkins. She kept calling them "nanas" or in other words bananas. Any fruit or veggie is a nana to her. By the end of the day though she had punkin down.

This is my favorite witch. She was casting spells for chocolate!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like...

CHRISTMAS?
We woke up this morning to a blanket of snow and it was cold.
What happened to Halloween?

Our pumpkins were covered in snow.

Yesterday it snowed a little but it didn't stick to anything.

Last night when we went to bed, it was snowing pretty hard and starting to stick.

It was beautiful, but I'm not ready for the cold weather.

Merry Early Christmas!?!?

OUCH!

Little Ry Ry took a nice nose dive off our new bed, and now her cute little nose looks like this. In these pictures she is telling me how she fell.

She was playing and laughing with Baylee and then she...

Fell down, down, down...

and landed on her little nose and cried. So sad!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween from the Dowdle Girls!

Home Evening Girl

Last week was Brinley's turn to pick a FHE activity. She wanted to go "hit the ball with the stick into the hole" or in other words go miniature golfing. So off we went...

I don't think I've been more scared. The entire night we were dodging golf balls being thrown at us by Rylee and golf clubs almost smacking us in the head...

Rylee wouldn't leave the balls alone. She kept picking them all up and putting them in the holes for us...
Brinley insisted on going first every time because she was the "Home Evening Girl"...
Baylee was frustrated with her sisters because they weren't following the rules...But all in all it was a fun night...
Thank goodness the warmer weather is almost gone because I'm not sure Dan and I are ready to try that one again anytime soon.
